HARDWARE REVIEW Here is my review for one of the first handhelds Nintendo ever made. The GameBoy. At first it may not seem like much but it is a good gaming portable. I first got my GameBoy as a Christmas present sometime in the middle 90s maybe 1995 or 1996 and I still play it but not as much as I used to. It was again a very good gaming handheld. It was yellow with the black buttons. Not one of the orginal ones. Well onto the review on this great handheld that started it all. Gameplay: 8/10 The gameplay in most Gameboy games are good but they aren't excellent. I've seen better gameplay on a Sega System or Nintendo System such as the NES or N64. Most GameBoy games allow you to go in one direction doing a few things as you go but sometimes it can get a little boring after a while. Games such as Donkey Kong, etc. can get boring after a while. Audio/Video: 7/10 The Audio and graphics in the GameBoy are ok. But the audio is sorta NES quality. Middle 80's quality sound. There is one very bad thing about the graphics though. You get an option to have the graphics more brighter or more darker but sometimes you can't find the right color you want to for the Gameboy and it gets downright fustrating. Also all Gameboy games are in black and white with a sorta light shade of green I can't remember because I haven't played my GameBoy in so long. Replayibility: 7/10 The replayibility in GameBoy games are good but not great. More replayibility are in consoles such as the Nintendo 64, Playstation 2, etc. But your GameBoy games can get boring after a while and then you have to go to Best Buy or some place like that to get some more games so you don't get bored with your GameBoy like I did. Game Library: 7/10 The Game Library for the GameBoy is... well, medicore. However if you get a Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance you can play older games that were on older GameBoys thus creating a huge Game Library which is good in some ways but bad because the cartriges are so small you might lose them like I did with one of mine. I think it was called Dr. Mario but I can't remember exactly. To Buy Or To Rent: I would suggest MAYBE getting a GBA which I might do later on. That way you have a bigger game library but a GameBoy would be ok if you want a Nintendo Handheld. It remains a classic handheld and the handheld that started it all. Nintendo owns the Handheld market no matter what. Though if you want a big game library I would suggest getting a Game Boy Advance but the GameBoy remains a very good handheld thus a GameBoy is a good handheld but I doubt you'll find a GameBoy at Circuit City, Best Buy, etc.
